Our Music

Our Music

“Whoever sings to God prays twice.”

– Augustine of Hippo
Music is the heartbeat of worship. Miriam led the Israelite women through the Red Sea singing and dancing, praising God for their deliverance from slavery. The Psalmist wrote songs of praise and lament, giving us words and music that cry out from the depths of our souls. At Calvary Episcopal, we understand the value of music to a worshipping community and gather every Sunday to sing a new song unto the Lord.

MINISTERS OF THE CONGREGATION

Our congregation is diverse and we recognize that not everyone has the same musical tastes. Our worship is deeply rooted in our Anglican traditions, but we strive to offer music that is both theologically sound as well as appealing to differing tastes. On any given Sunday you may experience traditional and modern hymns, contemporary music, contemplative music and music from around the world. We look forward to singing and worshipping alongside you and hope that you will both find something that speaks directly to you as well as experience something you may have never heard before.

CHOIR

Our choir meets every Sunday at 8:30 am,  and rehearses from 10:15 to 11:00am. They sing a wide variety of anthems, as well as leads the worshipping body in congregational song. The ability to read music is helpful, but there is a place for everyone in the Calvary Choir – the only requirements are a passion for singing and a positive attitude.

INSTRUMENTALISTS

If you are interested in being a part of the music ministry at Calvary and play an instrument, let our Director of Music know and we will find a place for you to share your gifts! This is a new ministry at Calvary so we will only occasionally need instrumentalists from time to time so there is no long term commitment required.
