Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Every year, I get excited about the slower pace of life that the summer brings – and every year when September comes, I wonder how the summer went by so fast! It’s certainly been a busy summer at Calvary! Our building was filled with numerous little ones from the YMCA enjoying summer camp, small business owners selling their items during our Saturday Community Marketplace events, men and women seeking healing through NA and AA groups and moments of meaningful worship together.
Our Calvary building is usually a little quieter during the summer, but this year, we’ve been busy with the installation of our new air-conditioner, many electrical upgrades, deep cleaning, painting of our Rectory, decorating our Sunday School room and many other projects that our Buildings and Grounds vestry member oversaw this summer. (Thank you, Drew Nolan, for making this happen!!) We also shared valuable time together during our fun-filled Luau and Mass in the grass!
If that wasn’t enough God has also blessed us with MANY new members to our Calvary family. In the last three months, we’ve welcomed Deacon Marvin Neely, Pastoral Associate Deborah Russell Neely, Nursery Attendant Brooke Zaccone and Sunday School Teacher Victoria Sowa! God has been faithful and is providing for our community abundantly!
Speaking of abundance, I’d love for us to think about the ways God has been faithful to us throughout the years. Now that we are in the midst of our Stewardship Campaign, I’d also like you to think about the ways God may be calling you to serve as Christ’s hands and feet in our community. Remember that true joy is only found when we learn how to give ourselves away for the glory of God’s kingdom!
So whether you’ve been traveling this summer, or staying at home, take some time this month to think about the ways God has blessed you and share these stories! Whether you’re ready for September or not, make sure you take a little time to pay attention to the changes around you – whether it’s a new school or new stage of life, freshly painted walls, changing weather and plants, or changes inside yourself. Share your stories, listen for God, and be faithful in what God is calling you to do. Remember that God sneaks in around us when we’re busy, and leaves moments of grace in our lives, even, or maybe especially, when the time goes by so fast!
God’s peace and love,
Mother Mo+
